SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, which is designed to verify if an email message is sent by a licensed server. Using SPF protection for a particular domain name will prevent the forging of emails generated with the domain. In simple words: enabling this feature for a domain generates a specific record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP of the servers which are allowed to send e-mail messages from mailboxes using the domain. Once this record propagates worldwide, it exists on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Whenever some e-mail message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses tests if it comes from an official server. If it does, it's sent to the destination address, but if it does not originate from a server listed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it's discarded. In this way nobody will mask an email address and make it appear as if you are e-mailing spam messages. This approach is also termed email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Website Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for any domain hosted in a cloud website hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with only a couple of clicks. The option is accessible in the Emails section of our outstanding Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to use it is to select one of your domains from the drop-down menu and then enter the hostnames and the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers which will be approved to send emails from your emails. As an added option you can even restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain only if it has our MX records, i.e. if our servers manage the email addresses for it, not a third-party provider. This option offers you the best degree of security, but it is not applicable when only your web site is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain are managed in another place. In either case, the SPF protection service will keep your emails risk-free from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection attribute is available with all the semi-dedicated hosting, so if you host your domains in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you are able to use the service with ease for any of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a quite easy to use interface, therefore you do not have to be proficient in the use of computers to protected your email addresses. You'll only need to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you'd like to be authorized to send out e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the new record will be active for the domain name that you've picked. As a further option, we'll also give you the ability to limit the outgoing emails and secure your mailboxes further by permitting e-mail messages to be sent only if the domain name involved includes our MX records i.e. the email messages for the domain name need to be taken care of here and not by a different supplier. By doing so you will get even superior control and there will not be any chances for somebody to counterfeit your e-mails for harmful intentions.
