Set up in 2001, the Dot NAME universal extension is the only one meant for personal websites only. These domains can be personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other labels people are popular by. Initially, only third-level registrations were possible, so if you wished to order john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already bought third-level names remained operational.

You will have the opportunity to alter the WHOIS details, to park your domain, to create Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an existing domain to our company if you have its EPP transfer authorization code from the present domain service provider and we will renew it as soon as the transfer has been done. There are no specific rules on who can book a dot NAME domain name, but in order to maintain the idea behind its creation alive, the Registry organization may check who the Registrant is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration might be challenged.
